Technology

Three layers,
one verified response

DM3, SmartBoitier, and Kyvoo Assist together form a verified emergency response platform — sensor-agnostic at the core, AI-powered at the edge, accountable at the alert. Built for environments where being wrong has real consequences.

01 / Architecture

Built for legacy infrastructure. Verified at the alert.

Most security platforms force a choice: rip out what works to gain something new, or accept that the new thing won’t talk to anything you already own. Defentect was designed from the start to do neither. The platform is sensor-agnostic at the core, layers AI analytics at the edge where bandwidth and latency are tight, and audits every conclusion through a verification layer before an alert ever reaches a human responder.

Three platform layers plus our personal-safety subsidiary together cover the full path from raw sensor signal to verified, accountable response — the operating chain that high-consequence environments actually need.

02 / Layer 01 — DM3

DM3 — the sensor-agnostic core

Defentect Management, Monitoring & Messaging

DM3 is the IP-based emergency response platform that has anchored Defentect deployments since the mid-2000s. It ingests data from radiation, chemical, intrusion, environmental, and video sensors, coordinates the response workflow, and routes event-specific alerts to the phones, desktops, and pagers of the people who need to act.

The platform was built to overlay on existing infrastructure rather than replace it. DM3 integrates with video systems including Avigilon, Axis, Mobotix, Arecont, and Pelco, access control hardware including HID, and a wide range of CBRNE and environmental sensors — any IP-addressable device that can publish a signal.

  • Sensor-agnostic ingestion across video, access control, environmental, and CBRNE
  • Event-driven alert routing to mobile, desktop, and legacy paging endpoints
  • Audit-ready logging across the full alert lifecycle
  • Designed for federal compliance, healthcare HIPAA, and education Clery Act contexts

03 / Layer 02 — SmartBoitier

SmartBoitier — AI-powered industrial IoT

The “glue layer” across fragmented systems

Licensed exclusively to Defentect across North America from Paris-based Blue Connect Solutions, SmartBoitier is the edge-compute layer that runs analytics where bandwidth and latency are tight. It plugs directly into the DM3 architecture as an AI-powered data aggregator across security, energy, environmental, and access-control infrastructure.

The exclusive license, signed April 2026, brings into the Defentect platform a system already running in European industrial deployments — specifically built for the kind of complex, distributed facilities where operational data has historically been trapped in proprietary systems that don’t talk to each other.

04 / Layer 03 — Kyvoo Assist

Kyvoo Assist verification flow showing an AI conclusion audited through SmartAnswers before becoming a verified alert, with a continuous audit trail

Kyvoo Assist — the verification layer

AI conclusions, audited before they fire an alert

Kyvoo Assist sits between AI-driven expert systems and the human operator. When a model flags an anomaly, Kyvoo audits that conclusion against vetted, customer-controlled information — the company calls these SmartAnswers® — before the alert is allowed to escalate. Operators receive accountable, auditable output rather than raw model confidence scores.

None of the major players in emergency notification have paired their AI features with a dedicated verification layer of this kind. The integration was finalized April 2026, giving Defentect worldwide rights to Kyvoo’s technology and bringing AI governance directly into the emergency response stack.

05 / Personal safety

DefenCall — smartphone duress & alerting

Personal safety on the same backbone

DefenCall is the personal-safety subsidiary that extends DM3’s alert and response infrastructure into a smartphone-based duress platform. Built for universities, K-12 districts, and healthcare environments, DefenCall translates a single button-press into the same downstream notification, escalation, and audit workflows the rest of the platform uses for sensor events.

For institutional buyers running both facility security and personal safety programs, DefenCall removes the operational gap between the two — one notification chain, one audit trail, one set of integrations to maintain.

06 / Integrations

Sensor & system integrations

The platform integrates with established security, video, access control, and AI infrastructure providers. The roster is expanding as the platform grows.

Video security & analytics

Motorola Solutions company. Native DM3 integration for IP camera ingestion, video analytics, and access control across enterprise and federal deployments.

Command & communications

Public safety, command center, and mission-critical communications platforms. Integration touchpoints across radio, dispatch, and incident-response systems.

AI verification

Worldwide license partner for the Kyvoo Assist verification layer. AI dialog manager with SmartAnswers® technology.

Industrial IoT

SmartConnect IoT (Blue Connect Solutions) is the developer of SmartBoitier, exclusively licensed to Defentect across North America.

More partners joining as the platform grows

Additional integrations and licensing agreements are announced as they close. Track new partners in the news archive.

Compatible sensor and system families include video (Axis, Mobotix, Arecont, Pelco, Avigilon), access control (HID), and a range of CBRNE, environmental, and intrusion sensors. Additional partners and OEMs are added as new licensing and integration agreements close.

07 / Deployment

Multi-decade pedigree across federal, healthcare, transportation, and critical infrastructure

The DM3 platform’s deployment history runs from federal terrorism-response exercises through major hospital networks, transportation operators, and aviation infrastructure. The platform was hardened in environments where alert chain-of-custody is non-negotiable.

Federal · DHS / DOD / DEA / FBI

Operation Golden Phoenix

San Diego, July 2008. Federal terrorism-response exercise jointly run by DHS Customs & Border Protection, US Marine Corps Aircraft Group 46, the Department of Defense, DEA, FBI, DOJ, and DOE. DM3 served as the messaging and notification component.

Healthcare

Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla

Early DM3 deployment integrating sensor monitoring with hospital response protocols across the Scripps La Jolla campus.

Healthcare

Washington Hospital Center, DC

DC-based major hospital deployment of the DM3 platform for environmental monitoring and integrated emergency notification.

Transportation & logistics

AIT Worldwide Logistics, Itasca IL

Global transportation provider deployment of DM3 for facility security and threat-detection notification across distributed logistics operations.
